What's in Your Foaming Hand Soap? A Closer Look at the Ingredients

Taking care of your skin doesn't have to mean following a complicated routine or filling your bathroom with dozens of products.

Sometimes, the simplest habits make the biggest difference: choosing a cleanser that works for your skin, moisturizing after washing, and paying attention to the ingredients in the products you use every day.

At Soothing Remedies Soap & Candle Company, we believe everyday skin care should feel thoughtful, enjoyable, and uncomplicated.

As a small-batch soap maker, I've learned that understanding ingredients is just as important as enjoying a beautiful fragrance or a luxurious lather.

Here are a few ways to make your everyday routine a little more caring.

Start With a Cleanser You Enjoy Using

Handwashing and bathing are essential parts of everyday hygiene, however frequent washing, particularly with hot water or harsh cleansing products, can leave skin feeling dry or uncomfortable.

One way to care for your skin is to understand what's actually in your soap.

What's in Soothing Remedies' Foaming Hand Soap?

Our handcrafted foaming hand soap begins with three plant-based oils: olive oil, coconut oil, and castor oil.

Each oil contributes different characteristics to the finished soap:

Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in oleic acid, a fatty acid that contributes to the characteristics of olive-oil-based soaps. When properly formulated and saponified, olive oil can help produce a soap with a smooth, creamy feel.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is valued in soap making because it contributes cleansing properties and bubbly lather. The amount used matters, because too much coconut oil in a soap formula can make the finished product more cleansing than some skin types prefer.

Castor Oil

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid and is commonly used by soap makers to help support lather and foam stability.

What does saponified mean?

Saponification is the chemical reaction that transforms oils and an alkali into soap. In a properly formulated soap, the original oils are transformed during this process.

Our foaming hand soap formula also includes carefully selected essential oils or fragrance oils to create a handcrafted cleansing product designed to make an ordinary daily routine feel a little more special.
